In the Widcombe area alone over the years there have been at least 32 different pubs. There are many reasons for this. Firstly most people did not have ready access to transport and so\u00a0 tended to seek their\u00a0 leisure pursuits closer to home Pubs were one of the few places that people could meet socially in the evenings.
